more on love...
we all are familiar with this verse, from 1 corinthians 13:4-7.
4 love is patient, love is kind. it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
and at the beginning of my bible (the teen study bible), there's this colourful page (it's one of the pluses to my bibe :) and this it what it had to say about love.
* love is willing to wait isntead of demanding, "prove you care now!"
love keeps on being friendly to ppl who arent friendly back.
love doesnt hate the girl who goes out with the guy you like.
love doesnt brag about your good grades or the touchdown you made in friday nights game.
love isnt stuck up. love doesnt think that you're better than others because your clothes are more expensive.
love lets others have their turn talking. it never puts others down by acting like they dont count.
love doesnt insist on getting all the credit or on being one of the popular crowd.
love doesnt lose its temper when a bro or sis hogs the phone or spends too much time in the bathroom.
love doesnt hold grudges. it doesnt keep thinking over and over again about how someone hurt you.
love doesnt think doin wrong is cool.
love looks out for the interests of others.
love keeps on trusting God even when he right choices you make dont turn out hte way you want.
love keeps on expecting the best.
love doesnt give up just because smthg goes wrong of because you feelings are hurt. God is in charge, so those who love just keep right on loving. *
and i know it sounds really redundant...it's basically the same thing said in a lotta different ways, with different examples, but it all comes down to what the verse says. there so many things that love 'is' and 'isnt' at the same time. and i've been trying to force myself to do these things, cuz i am supposed to...we are all called to love. then it occured to me that....if i do it unwillingly...then should i just not do it at all?? cuz my hearts not in it....so that's no good!! and last nite, i read adrew's blog....check it out here and it really makes a lotta sense...how its our character that we hafta develop, and once we do, these will become natural tendencies :)
